July 4: Horseshoe tournament, sign up 1 p.m., VFW Post 10221, $5 entry fee, play 1:30 p.m., includes blind draw for partners and double elimination, first place $150, second place $100, third place $5

July 4: Barbecue rib and chicken dinner, $10 suggested donation, all proceeds benefit cancer aid and research programs

July 4: Barbecue and carnival, American Legion Post 16, Mile 2.5 East Road, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

July 4: Barbecue benefiting Elks Lodge 2127 scholarship program, doors open at noon, raffle tickets $100 per ticket includes barbecue and beverage, barbecue begins at 1 p.m. and is $15 adults, $7 ages 6-12, free ages 5 and younger; drawing at 2 p.m.
