Alaska State Troopers at 11:30 p.m. went to a single-car rollover near Mile 168 Sterling Highway. A 55-year-old Anchor Point woman driving south lost control, crossed the centerline, over corrected and left the road. The car went into the southbound ditch, rolled and came to rest on the driver’s side. Kachemak Emergency Services responded and extricated the woman. She was taken to South Peninsula Hospital for her injuries.

Jan. 22

Troopers at 10:25 a.m. went to a single-vehicle crash near Mile 9.5 East End Road. Troopers found a commercial truck inbound to Homer had overturned, separating a tank from the trailer frame. The driver, a 29-year-old Soldotna man, was thrown from the truck. Kachemak Emergency Services medics took the man to South Peninsula Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Next of kin was notified. The truck had been hauling drilling mud and some mud spilled. Troopers notified the Department of Environmental Conservation. Kachemak Emergency Services also put out booms. The Bureau of Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Troopers at 3:21 p.m. contacted a 25-year-old Homer man and determined he was a fugitive from justice from Arizona on drug and weapons charges. He also had an Alaska arrest warrant for driving while license revoked. He was arrested and taken to the Homer Jail.
