With our early spring/summer weather, and abundance of fun activities going on, it was gratifying to again see our community’s dedication to electronics recycling in Homer.  More than 100 individuals and 30 businesses joined dozens of volunteers and supporters to pull off yet another successful event on April 26.  

With invaluable in-kind support from Total Reclaim, the Kenai Peninsula Borough, SBS, Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Kar-A-Van Transfers, and Alaskans for Litter Prevention and Recycling, and a very generous donation from the Homer Foundation and the City of Homer grants program, our community ensured that tons of electronic waste will be disposed of properly, dismantled safely and ethically, and re-purposed, reducing the need for new landfills — or new sources for those raw materials. Support was also received from Jay Brant, South Peninsula Hospital, HEA, Kachemak Bay Conservation Society, Loopy Lupine, KBBI, K-WAVE, and Tech Connect.

A very special thanks to the many volunteers who cheerfully provided hours of their time on a busy Saturday, and the other supporters and sponsors that provide great meals and snacks to us during the day, Safeway, Save-U-More, Two Sisters Bakery, Cosmic Kitchen, and Fat Olives.
