The members of Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and Alaska USA Foundation joined forces to donate a total $49,300 to 17 food banks in Alaska, Washington and the high desert region of California as part of the credit union’s annual “Cash and Cans” food drive. 

In Alaska, the funds specifically benefited the Homer Community Food Pantry, Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, Food Bank of Alaska in Anchorage, Bethel Lions Club, Fairbanks Community Food Bank, Palmer Food Bank, Mat-Su Food Bank in Wasilla, Kodiak Island Food Bank, Southeast Alaska Food Bank in Juneau and the Salvation Army in Ketchikan.

“The Cash and Cans drive is part of the ‘people helping people’ philosophy that’s key to Alaska USA and its members,” said Janell Adams, senior vice president, branch administration. “We’re proud that members stepped up again this year to help local families in need.”

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with $5.4 billion in assets and nearly half a million members worldwide. The credit union operates 67 branches throughout Alaska, California and Washington.

The Alaska USA Foundation was established in 2003 to support 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that provide needs-based services to children, veterans and active duty members of the armed services and their families. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed more than $880,000 and is honored to assist those that provide direct services in support of its mission.
