Writers invited to submit works for June production

Performance artist Emily Johnson seeks poetry, prose, short stories, songs and spoken word pieces for her project, “Shore.” She seeks works that would read at about 8 to 10 minutes long and related to the ideas of home, place and land. Applicants must be available to read or perform their works at 7:30 p.m. June 9 at Bunnell Street Arts Center for Johnson’s project. Five to six applicants will be selected and paid a performance stipend.

Submit finished work as a PDF to julia@catalystdance.com. Write SHORE READING SUBMISSION in the subject line. Include a cover page with your name and contact information (email, phone) and links (youtube, vimeo,etc) to your performed work, if possible. The deadline is 5 p.m. May 22. ‘Moose: The Movie’ shows May 30 at Homer Theatre

“Moose: The Movie,” a film by Tundra Comics cartoonist Chad Carpenter and his brother Darin Carpenter, shows at 8:30 p.m. May 30 at the Homer Theatre. Tickets are $10. Chad Carpenter plans to attend and speak at the showing.

Filmed in the Mat-Su Valley, “Moose” is a comedy spoof of horror movies. Set in the fictitious Alaska town of Gangrene Gulch, it involves two zany park rangers and one lovely coroner’s assistant as they attempt to solve the mystery of why a moose has gone on the rampage, targeting humans.
