Evelyn Verlee Lauer

Evelyn Verlee Lauer, 96, died March 15, 2018, in Evansville, Indiana. Funeral services were held March 19, 2018, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, Evansville, Indiana, with burial in Locus Hill Cemetery.

Lauer was a frequent visitor to Homer and Alaska, visiting 27 times to see her daughter, Rita Jo Shoultz, and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Gerald K. Lauer; parents, Dewey and Lillian Mitchell; sisters, Rosella and Geneva; and many other family and friends.

Evelyn will be dearly missed by her daughter, Rita Jo Shoultz and her husband, Leroy, of Alaska; son, Gerald K. Lauer, Jr. and his wife, Charlene, who was a dedicated caregiver to Evelyn; Alaska grandchildren, Shannon Shoultz (Dee), Tamara Potter (Mark), Sabrina Alvarez (Luis) and Rochelle Thurmond; Indiana grandchildren, Jason and Jeramy Lauer; great-grandchildren in Alaska, Chelsey, Cass, Samantha, Craig, Amanda, Tiffany, Nick, Wade and Danelle; great-grandchildren in Indiana, Cheyanne, Dakota and Kaitlyn; great, great-grandchildren in Alaska, Lewis, Bellamy, William, Kade, Dylan and Isabella; great, great-granddaughter in Indiana, Journey; and sisters, Eva Jordan and Billie Sharon Johnson.
