From downtown to East End Road and even at South Peninsula Hospital, young artists display their work for Jubilee!, the annual celebration of student artists. Paul Banks Elementary School also holds its annual Arts Extravaganza, with not just an art show, but a hands-on art table. Jubilee! shows open at the Homer Council on the Arts, the Pratt Museum and South Peninsula Hospital.

As part of its 30th-anniversary as an artist co-op, Ptarmigan Arts showcases new artists as well as established artists. There also will be art demonstrations on loom weaving, copper jewelry making, fish-skin basket making and mosaics.

See a work in progress at Bunnell Street Arts Center as Old Town Artist in Residence Jarod Charzewski installs a site-specific show referencing our consumer culture. Charzewski has collected items commonly found in Homer, such as buoys and nets. He does an artist’s talk at 6 p.m.

Round out the evening with a high school Slam and Jam poetry slam and rave from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Homer Council on the Arts. Youth on Record AK has created the show with director Cody Davidson.
