The Alaska Small Business Development Center has three workshops planned for September. All of them will be at the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center.
Sept. 14 — Start A Business: This workshop is designed for people thinking about starting their own business. It covers basics such as business licensing, legal forms of business, business record-keeping, hiring employees, business planning and access to financing. This free workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday. The deadline to register is today.
Sept. 16 — Alaska State’s Loan Programs: Michelle (Miki) Rodekohr, loan officer with the Department of Commerce, Community & Economic Development, will provide information on how businesses qualify for state loan programs. The free workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 16. The deadline to register is Friday.
Sept. 24 — How To Write A Business Plan: This workshop will show participants methods for establishing financial projections, as well as creating and evaluating financial ratios that will help measure successes and be an effective tool to obtain financing. It will be from 12:30-4 p.m. Online registration is required by Sept. 14. The fee is $65. A free scholarship ticket is available for veterans with a DD-214 identification.
