Homer Electric Association holds its fifth annual Energy and Conservation Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at West Homer Elementary School.
The fair presents opportunities to learn about the latest innovations in energy saving appliances, home improvements and alternative energy. It features about 30 vendors displaying a variety of energy conservation-related products, including appliances, recycling tips, construction materials, heating sources, lighting options and alternative energy information. The fair also includes an update on tidal energy projects.
Presentations include:
• Noon: Representatives of the Homer Tidal Energy Incubator Project provide an update on the progress of that project.
• 3 p.m.: The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority gives its Energy Hog presentation. The interactive event is designed to entertain and educate students and adults about energy conservation.
The fair also features door prizes, popcorn, hot dogs, refreshments and the announcement of the winners of an energy conservation student contest sponsored by HEA.
