Write on!
Winners of the Kenai Peninsula Writers' Contest were selected through a blind-judging system. Each entry was identified by a number; judges were unaware of the writer's identity. The first round of judging was done locally. Final judging was by teachers, writers and poets from elsewhere, who determined a winner in each category and two honorable mentions.
For 17 years, the Homer Council on the Arts and the Homer News have been encouraging writers to take up their pens or sit at their computers (or typewriters) and write. Congratulations to all those who have done that and more by sharing their writing with the community through the annual Kenai Peninsula Writers' Contest. This year, the contest was tweaked ever so slightly. Instead of first-, second- and third-place winners, plus some honorable mentions, judges were asked to select a winner and two honorable mentions in each category. Again, congratulations to the finalists and all who entered this year's contest. ![]()
