News - Expansion nearly finished Phase 1 of the South Peninsula Hospital expansion is 90-percent complete, the hospital announced last week. Started in May 2006, the 22,000-square-foot project includes a new emergency room and entrance, radiology department and admitting area. New boilers have been installed and already providing more efficient, energy-saving hot water and heat. Curbs and gutters are in with paving expected soon. Interior work also is being done, said Carl Brinkerhoff, project superintendent for Cornerstone Construction. A grand opening is tentatively scheduled for September.
