Guide to ringing in the new year on the Southern Peninsula




When did the holiday season begin? With Halloween? Thanksgiving?

Whenever it was, it isn't over yet.

Still to enjoy are lots of activities continuing through New Year's Eve in Homer, Anchor Point and Ninilchik. Below are some ways to keep the celebration going with family entertainment, good company, food, live music, dancing and even a Roaring '20s costume party for adults.

Don't forget: A free, safe ride home on New Year's Eve is only a phone call away, and a designated driver will be available at Inlet View Lodge in Ninilchik.

Andrew Vait performs twice: a dinner show complete with a five-course meal and a New York New Year's Eve champagne toast at 8 p.m., $65 adults, $35 children under 12; a late night concert with Vait's band, Eternal Fair, appetizers and a champagne toast, $35. Dinner show 6 p.m.; late night concert 10 p.m.

Contra dance

New Year's Eve party with live music by the Relatively Famous of Homer; smoking and nonsmoking areas. Music begins at 9 p.m.
