New CEO appointed for Soldotna hospital

The board of directors of Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna has appointed Rick Davis as the facility's new chief executive officer. Following a nationwide search, the CPH board selected Davis, a 20-year veteran of the Alaska hospital industry who has been serving as interim CEO for the past several months.

"Rick Davis brings an impressive resume as a hospital administrator," said Loren Weimer, CPH board president. "We have tremendous confidence in his ability to lead us on our quest to become a regional medical center focused on improving individual and community health, while achieving national standards of excellence."

Davis began his Alaska career in Anchorage at Providence Hospital in 1992 and moved to Alaska Regional Hospital in 1996 where he was promoted to chief operating officer in 2007. Davis moved to Soldotna in August to fill the COO post at Central Peninsula Hospital.

Davis' accomplishments at Alaska Regional Hospital included recruitment of key physicians, service line development and expansion of preferred provider contracts, which created a solid business base for ARH.

"I am honored the board has selected me to lead CPH. Our industry is undergoing major reforms designed to steer health care toward a quality-based integrated health-care system," said Davis. "CPH has received numerous statewide and national awards for delivering quality, patient centered care. These qualities put us miles ahead of most hospitals in Alaska and around the country."

Davis holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a double major in finance and business economics from Boise State University, where he graduated cum laude. In addition to being an experienced hospital operator, Davis is an avid outdoorsman, pilot and boat owner.

He and his wife Terry love the Alaska lifestyle and are happy to make the Kenai Peninsula their new home, according to a hospital press release.

CPH, formally Central Peninsula General Hospital Inc., was established in 1971. It remains a community-owned, not-for-profit hospital providing state-of-the-art medical services without taxing the community. CPH currently employs 750 peninsula residents.
