The American Legion Auxiliary offers gift wrapping from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. today through Dec. 23 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Christmas Eve on Pioneer Avenue next to the Grog Shop. Wrapping is $1 a foot including a bow.

AKABE, the Alaska Association for Billingual Education, holds a fund-raiser for its annual $1,000 scholarship. Ulita Martusheff has organized a Tupperware benefit for the fund through either catalog or home sales. Call her at 235-9165 or e-mail ulita68@hotmail.com. The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District supports scholarships in the form of tuition waivers to the Alaska Vocational Technical Center or Kenai Peninsula College. High school seniors graduating in 2003 are eligible. To apply, contact your school counselor or visit www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us. Applications must be postmarked by March 14.

Erin Cline has been named Outstanding Graduate Student for the fall semester at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, where she is a presidential scholar studying comparative philosophy. She recently presented papers to the Central States Philosophical Association, the Southwestern Philosophical Society and the SouthWest Conference on Asian studies. She is the daughter of Mike and Dotty Cline of Homer.

The winter catalog will be mailed about Dec. 20. New classes include "Wilderness First Aid," "Tarot Symbology for Personal Growth and Transformation" and "Chinese Essence Qijong." Call 235-6090.
