The American Legion Auxiliary offers gift wrapping from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 16 through Dec. 23 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Christmas Eve on Pioneer Avenue next to the Grog Shop. Wrapping is $1 a foot including a bow.

The U.S. Postal Service can mark letters with a postmark from North Pole, Alaska. Address and affix stamps to the letters to be mailed, then mail the letters in a larger package to North Pole Christmas Cancellation, Postmaster, 5400 Mail Trail, Fairbanks 99709-9999. Do not send empty envelopes. Letters from Santa Claus can also be postmarked from North Pole by sending a stamped and addressed letter to the same address. Requests for North Pole cancellation should arrive by Dec. 15.

Benjamin G. Bury, Fritz Creek, graduates Dec. 14 with a master's degree in anthropology from Eastern New Mexico University, Portales.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Tyler R. Sahlin recently completed a month-long assignment in Kosovo, Dynamic Response 2002, while assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. His unit has now been transferred to the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. Fifth Fleet area of responsibility in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Ferry Schedule

The M/V Kennicott visits Kodiak, Seward, Valdez, Juneau, Haines, Skagway, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert, Can., before returning to Homer on Dec. 21. The Tustumena is in dry dock for repairs and returns to Homer on April 15.
