Those affected by the flooding have until Jan. 8 to apply for the benefits, said Bill Kramer, assistant director for unemployment insurance with the department's employment security division. That includes self-employed workers and others not covered by the state's unemployment insurance program, whose source of income has been negatively affected by the flood.
Flood-affected workers may receive weekly payments of up to $248 plus dependents allowance for up to 26 weeks.
