Divas head to Palmer




The Divas, Homer's women's hockey team beat the Homer Glacier Girls Hockey team by 5-2 in action last week. The Divas' high scorers were Andrea Stineff and Shelly Laukitis; Caroline DeCreft scored for the Glacier Girls.

The Homer Divas Women's Intermediate Hockey Team will head to their first tournament this weekend in Palmer. The tournament brings eight intermediate and advanced teams from around Alaska to compete for the C Cup.

Homer women won the tournament in 2007, and are looking to regain their championship status this weekend.

The Diva novice team will have a game against Soldotna Ambush at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

In co-ed hockey, the Black Holes won against White Thrash in a 5-to-1. Chris Brown and Chris Russ were a star defensive team for the Black Holes, with Sean Hatton scoring the only goal for White Thrash.

Teams T&J and Green Eggs and Slam had a nail-biting close game with a final score of 2-2. It was a goalies game with both Lydia Brown and Scotty Owens stopping more than 30 shots each.

Season stats as of this week:

Team T&J : 2-1-1;

Black Holes: 3-1;

White Thrash: 1-3; and

Green Eggs and Slam: 1-1-1
