The Sea Otters, who started with a minimum of six players before adding three substitutes, beat Cook Inlet Academy 25-4, 25-8, 25-16 in opening-round rally-scoring action. Then, after losing a rare game, Seldovia knocked off Bristol Bay in a best-of-three match.
"They play a different game out west -- not much net play, but strong from the floor," said Seldovia coach Ila Dillon. "My girls were nervous and had a hard time receiving serves."
After losing the first game 11-15, the Sea Otters pulled together with wins of 15-8, 15-9.
In the championship, Seldovia faced rival Ninilchik for the fourth time this season. The result, a 25-8, 25-8, 25-16 Seldovia win, has become all too familiar for the Wolverines when they face the Sea Otters.
On Dec. 6 and 7, Seldovia will put its undefeated record on the line at the Region II tournament, also being held at Tri-Valley.
