A Homer-based fishermen's group plans an all-out attack on a plan to limit entry into the halibut fishery.

Glacier State Telephone Company has announced it intends to lay off five of its eight Homer telephone installers after the start of the year, due to an "anticipated drop in work load."

The Pacific Rim Planners unveil the Homer Comprehensive Plan to plot a course for Homer's development through 1999. According to "intermediate" estimates in the plan, 8,000 people will live in Homer, and another 7,500 will live in the surrounding areas.
