Testing of tap water at seven out of 47 Homer homes showed traces of lead above federal standards. The EPA will likely require the city to add chemicals to keep the metal from leaching into the water.

The Kenai Peninsula School Board voted to prohibit the use of a reference book on sex, "Changing Bodies, Changing Lives," as a classroom textbook.

Peninsula Ford has closed its Homer outlet on Ocean Drive, but the Soldotna-based dealership may return by spring.
