Homer kicks off the holiday season




After months of work, area artisans are displaying their wares in time for the holidays. The craft fairs started earlier this month and continue through mid December, offering gifts, with food and music to enjoy while shopping.

Recycling brightly colored juice boxes into bags in a variety of sizes add a splash of color to items made and sold by Alyssa Reines of Anchor Point at the Faith Lutheran craft fair Saturday.

Saturday Nov. 22:

Arts and crafts fair

Sponsored by Emblem Club 350, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Homer Elks Lodge 2127. Tables $35 each or $40 with electricity. For more information, call 235-8081.


Saturday Nov. 29:

Socking stuffer party and family free day

At the Pratt Museum, 1-4 p.m. Kids may build a graham cracker house, explore season art activities, decorate cookies, visit with Santa Claus and listen to holiday music. For more information, call 235-8635.


Saturday and Sunday Dec. 6 and 7:

Nutcracker Faire

Coordinated by Homer Council on the Arts. Held in the Homer High School commons and gym. Dec. 6, 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; Dec. 7, noon-6 p.m. For more information, call HCOA, 235-4288.


Saturday Dec. 13:

Christmas bazaar

Sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula State Fair in Ninilchik, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tables are $15 each or $20 for two plus a donation of one item to be raffled off by he fair. For more information, call Lara McGinnis, fair manager, (907) 567-3670.


Saturday Dec. 13:

Craft fair

Held at Homer Senior Center's Friendship Terrace, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tables are still available, $30 a table. For more information, call 235-7655.
