The U.S. Coast Guard holds its third annual "Adopt-a-Family Fund-raiser." Crews from the Sedge and Roanoke Island deliver a truckload of split wood for $75, with proceeds going to help two families with food and presents for the holidays. To purchase wood, call the Sedge at 235-5233 or the Roanoke Island at 235-5336.

AARP seeks volunteers to train as tax aides for the upcoming tax season. Tax aides help middle- to low-income taxpayers file personal income tax returns. To volunteer, e-mail or call (253) 582-1762.

The Pratt Museum has extended its cash raffle drawing through Dec. 6. Tickets are $100 and offer a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 for the last ticket drawn of 350 tickets. There are also prizes for $250 and $500. The drawing is at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 on the opening evening of the Festival of Gingerbread. All proceeds support the museum. Call 235-8635.
