After a meeting with state officials and architects, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District construction chief said the swimming pool and auditorium will likely be pulled from the design for the new Homer high school. The state maintains the school is too big.

The father of a Homer freshman obtained a court order to temporarily block a 30-day suspension of his son from school for attending a Sadie Hawkins Day dance with the smell of liquor on his breath.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough plans to reconstruct Bear Creek Road, the gravel loop around which much of Kachemak City is built.
