Homer Alaska - Letters

After 35 years in Homer I have found myself on the Leadership Council of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters here in Homer. I am writing to let all the groovy brothers and sisters in our cosmic hamlet know we have at present 11 Littles, that's right, 11 kids signed up and waiting for a Big Brother or a Big Sister.

Seven boys and four girls are wanting an older person to mentor them, have fun with them, take them on outings, give them sage bits of advice about growing up.

Anyone who is in high school or beyond and has just a little bit of extra time, as little as a few hours a month, can become a Big Brother or Big Sister. It doesn't cost anything but your caring about another young human being who wants mentoring. Matches are made by the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff, whether you are a musician or an artist, a hunter or an avid sports aficionado, there is a Little you can help to grow up to be the special person they are. You can be matched with a Little in a school setting or the community based setting.
