Brief power outages scheduled for Wednesday

Homer Electric Association has scheduled two power outages for the Homer Spit and Halibut Cove area on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

The outages, which will each last about one hour, are necessary in order for HEA to perform required maintenance work on equipment that provides service to the Spit and Halibut Cove.

The first outage is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and last one hour. There will be a second outage when the crew completes the maintenance work; it is expected to occur between 2 and 3 p.m. This outage also will last approximately one hour.

During the outage, residents in Seldovia, Port Graham, and Nanwalek will be provided power via the Gerry Willard Generation Plant in Seldovia.

If you have questions regarding this scheduled outage, please contact HEA Public Relations Coordinator Joe Gallagher at 283-2324.

As always, please take precautions to protect sensitive electronic equipmnent and remember to stay away from any downed power line. The lines are very dangerous and can cause serious injury or death if contact is made. If you see a downed power line, leave the area and call HEA at 1-888-8outage or 1-888-868-8243.
