Ski swap Saturday

The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club will hold its annual gear swap Saturday in the Homer High School commons from 1-4 p.m.

The club will also hold its general membership meeting at the high school on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Skiers will have an opportunity to sell off some of that old gear or pick a deal or two as well as contribute to Homer's world-class Nordic skiing programs.

Mariners go to Shriners

Several Homer High School football players made the trip north to Anchorage to represent the South team in the annual Shriners Game, a showcase of the best players in the state.

David Drake, Adam Crum, Marcus Kuhns, Jon Adams and coach Terry Fraley all took part in the game, which the North won 26-12.

Peters, Epley run Outside

Andrew Peters and Jami Epley, a pair of former Homer High School cross country standouts, raced for Northwest Nazarene University at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships in Seattle recently.

Peters placed 60th, finishing the 8-kilometer course in 27:13.49, to help the Crusaders to a fifth-place team finish. University of Alaska Anchorage won the meet.

Epley finished in 75th place in the women's 6-kilometer time of 26:54.94, as the Crusaders placed ninth.
