Borough seeks help from residents
The Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management is asking for assistance from property owners to identify damage to personal property. The office is working on obtaining a state emergency disaster declaration and needs an estimate of the dollar losses from flooding.

Private property owners affected by the floods can call 262-4910, provide their names, phone numbers, location of property damage and a brief description of the damages as well as directions to the property.

This information can also be provided online at www.borough.kenai.ak.us/ emergency/damage.htm.

Teams of state and borough personnel will be in the field to look at the damage as soon as flood water recedes. Property owners don't need to be on site when the assessment takes place.

If the state does make a declaration, information will be provided on how and where property owners can apply for assistance. Owners are encouraged to take pictures of all damaged property, structures, contents and damage to private roads before repairs or discarding.
