Broomball scares up support

Two events are scheduled to benefit Homer Broomball League, each with a Halloween theme.

The first event is a showing of the original "Frankenstein" movie, starring Boris Karloff, at the Homer Theatre at 7 p.m. tonight. The evening begins with a presentation on the background of the movie, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. Also, before the curtain goes up on the feature film, the public can enjoy a homemade horror show consisting of short videos created by kids from the R.E.C. Room. Admission is $5.

The second event is a "Monster Mashup" at Alice's Champagne Palace at 9 p.m. Saturday. The evening includes a costume contest and DJ-spun music carefully selected for the evening, beginning with old school classics and moving into more modern dance tunes. Even Alice's is getting into the mood, with a remake for the evening resembling Frankenstein's laboratory. Admission is $5.
