Oct. 9

Alaska State Troopers and Ninilchik Fire and EMS at 5:13 p.m. went to a vehicle fire in Ninilchik. A 53-year-old Ninilchik man was driving his 1978 Ford F-250 pickup truck when it caught on fire. Troopers allege the man drove drunk and refused to provide a breath sample. Troopers arrested him for driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test. Troopers allege while at the jail the man attempted to discard a bag of marijuana. He also was charged with sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and promoting contraband.

Oct. 10

Troopers at 12:37 a.m. stopped a 22-year-old man driving a 2002 Subaru WRX near the North Fork Road in Anchor Point. Troopers allege the man was drunk and arrested him for DUI.

Oct. 15

Troopers and Homer Volunteer Fire Department EMTs at 3:06 p.m. went to a Homer home for the reported death of a 55-year-old woman. The woman died of natural causes. The Alaska Medical Examiner was notified and the body released to a funeral home. Next of kin were at the scene and notified.

Oct. 20

Troopers at 2:48 p.m. went to a report of an assault in Ninilchik. Troopers allege a 50-year-old Kasilof man assaulted the driver of a car he was a passenger in. Troopers arrested the man for fourth-degree assault.

Troopers at 6:11 p.m. went to a three-car crash at Mile 5.5 East End Road. Troopers allege a 16-year-old boy driving west in a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck collided with a 60-year-old man in a 2005 Honda CRV. The boy tried to avoid the Honda and also hit a 1996 Ford pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old Homer man. No one was injured and all parties wore seat belts. Troopers cited the boy for following too closely.

Oct. 23

Troopers at 2:59 p.m. made a traffic stop in Ninilchik on a 47-year-old Homer woman. Troopers cited her for driving while license suspended and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Oct. 24

Troopers at 9:25 a.m. contacted a 22-year-old Anchor Point man for violations of his conditions of felony probation. During the contact troopers allege finding narcotics. Additional charges could be made depending on crime lab results.
