Its time to plan, plan, plan

As surely as fall has fled and winter has rushed in, now winter will bring the holiday season and in our wonderful and generous community the holiday season will bring Share the Spirit program.

With that in mind, we ask that you plan now to participate. Plan to volunteer for the spaghetti feed or even more importantly adopt-a-family. Plan to choose gift ornaments and shop for a needy child or send canned goods to school with your student for the food drive, and if none of that fits your plan, donate to the Share the Spirit account at Wells Fargo or by mail to P. O. Box 3218 Homer. There are many ways to be involved, we ask that you choose the plan that suits you and jump in.

Some dates to jot down in you planner: Basket applications should be available to local Human Service Agencies from Monday, Nov. 19, through the deadline of Friday, Dec. 14. The completed applications as well as Adopt-A-Family applications must, as always, be dropped off in the foyer at Wells Fargo Bank. The annual spaghetti feed will be Tuesday, Dec. 11. Packing and gift wrap day is Friday, Dec. 21. And the Basket Give-Away Day is Saturday, Dec. 22.

Check with your student to find out when their school is holding a Share the Spirit Food Drive and watch for the Share the Spirit Food Drive cans to appear around town after Thanksgiving.

For updates or information please call the Share the Spirit information line at 235-7466.

Last spring we announced that our spaghetti feed chairperson wanted to take a year off, so we asked for someone or some group to step up and volunteer to organize and run the oh so important, this is how 75 percent of the funds we need are raised spaghetti feed. We had several folks inquire, but then interest seemed to wane and now we are less the two months from the scheduled date and still have no chairman, chairwoman, chair team, chair organization. Thats right our chair is empty. Please think about taking on this project, call the information line and leave a message (even though it warns you not to) and we will return your call.

Thanks for your participation and remember to

Share the Spirit,

Kelly Glidden and Shari Daugherty
