The Homer Special Olympics Bowling Games will begin today with opening ceremonies and team competition beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Kachemak Bowl.
The bowling games will continue with dual competition starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and wrapping up with individual competition and awards beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Avalanche course offered
The Alaska Avalanche School will be offering its Avalanche Hazard Recognition Workshop on Nov. 16, running from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Soldotna High School.
The course is appropriate for snowmachiners, Telemark skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers and anyone else who might find themselves traveling the backcountry.
The class is free, so pre-registration is recommended. Call the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management for information at 907-398-6911.
Bouldering competition
The Bay Club's Fall Bouldering competition will take place Friday evening starting at 5 p.m. The event is open to the public. Call 235-2582 for more information.
