ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency is seeking the public's help in identifying environmental issues stemming from a proposed gas development project at Point Thomson on the North Slope.

Exxon Mobil has proposed extracting natural gas and kerosene-like gas condensate from the area.

The EPA, in coordination with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Army Corps of Engineers, is producing an environmental impact statement on the proposed project.

The agency will hold a series of public meetings around the state in coming weeks to gather comments on the proposed project. Meetings next week will be at Kaktovik, Barrow and Nuiqsut. Meetings next month will be held in Arctic Village, Venetie, Fairbanks and Anchorage.
