Council members sworn in at special meeting

STAFF REPORT

At a special meeting of the Homer City Council on Monday, Barbara Howard and David Lewis were sworn in for another term as council members. The council re-elected Beth Wythe as mayor pro tempore. In the absence of the mayor, the mayor pro tempore is responsible for the duties, responsibilities and powers of the mayor, without losing the privilege or duty to vote as a council member.

With an opportunity to change their seating at the council table, the only change was for Howard and Bryan Zak to swap places at Howard's request.

Before adjourning, council member Kevin Hogan was appointed to serve on the Boys and Girls Club Task Force which has been formed to "research and resolve the issues surrounding this group who provides an essential service to this community by caring for our children after school," Mayor James Hornaday wrote in a letter to the council.

The next regular meeting of Homer City Council is Monday, with the Committee of the Whole meeting at 5 p.m. and the council meeting at 6 p.m.
