Leading the way
Chelsea Ward tips a ball Friday night as Sarah Manilisay, 4, and Holly McCune ready themselves for a dig during the Homer High School volleyball team's 3-0 win over visiting Lathrop, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23. Ward nailed 19 kills during the match, while McCune had 14 digs and Sara Thompson dished out 18 assists. On Saturday, the Mariners rallied for a hard-fought 3-1 win over Dimond, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18, 29-27. Ward had 20 kills, 17 digs and three solo blocks. Thompson had 31 assists, and Raquel Kriens added 11 digs and three aces for the Mariners.
