Estuaries day a success
National Estuaries Day was celebrated on Oct. 5, a blustery Saturday at Bishop's Beach. Local families and individuals picked up a lot of trash from the beach, built wonderful sand sculptures, marveled at the winning pieces of marine debris artwork created by local youth, enjoyed ham and cheese sandwiches by the fire, and learned a bit about our estuary's intricate food web. We would like to thank our volunteers and Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies staff for helping make this annual event a fun-filled day for everybody. We'll throw the party again in September 2003!
