Business conference set for Oct. 15-16 at Land's End

Land's End will host its fourth annual Business, Marketing and Technology Conference Oct. 15-16 at Land's End Resort. The conference is co-sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Economic Development District.

Tickets are $99 for businesses and $79 for nonprofit organizations. Those bringing a second person from the same office will receive 50 percent off the second ticket.

Lunch is included for both days.

Topics include digital signage, mobile payments, leadership in the workplace, team-building development and health-care reform, as well as Facebook's new features, Pinterest, Google and other tools.

Homer Recorders Office will reopen on Oct. 15

The state of Alaska Homer Recorders Office will be temporarily closed beginning Monday and reopening Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Homer Inn and Day Spa to host chamber mixer

Homer Inn and Day Spa will host the next chamber mixer. It will be from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the inn and spa, 895 Ocean Drive Loop. For more information or to host a future mixer, contact Debbie at the chamber: 235-7740 or debbie@homeralaska.org.

The chamber luncheon scheduled for Oct. 16 has been canceled.

Three business workshops scheduled for October

The Alaska Small Business Develop-ment Center has scheduled three workshops for October at the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center building.

• There will be a free "Starting A Business" seminar beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 19. Bryan Zak will answer questions and offer helpful resources in this two-hour workshop. Zak will prepare participants for a productive relationship with Alaska Small Business Development Center and its partner programs, and explain the value of the center's free services. The deadline to register is Oct. 12.

• There will be a free seminar on Alaska Division of Economic Development loan programs from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 23. Information will be presented on existing and new state loan programs. The deadline to register is Oct. 19. Seating is limited.

• There will be a $30 "Benefits of Budgeting" seminar from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 29. Zak will show participants methods to monitor, measure and manage the amount of cash moving through a business. The deadline to register is Oct. 22. Payment can be by cash, check, MasterCard or VISA.
