Arts council says thanks
On Aug. 21, the Homer Council on the Arts became the official owners of the Homer Center for the Arts (formerly the Pate Insurance Building). This was quite an accomplishment, and many people had a hand in the process. HCOA would like to express its sincerest thanks to Kathy and Mike Pate, the Rasmuson Foundation and to the many private individual and business donors who participated in our project. The community participation was incredible, and that list is really long.

As a thank-you to the community, HCOA hosted a community-wide barbecue on Sept. 20. The fabulous food was thanks to board and community members, Two Sisters Bakery, the Sourdough Bakery, Homer Ocean Charters and Rainbow Tours. Beverages were courtesy of The Grog Shop and McDonald's. Our chief chefs were Mike Pate and Phillip Alderfer.

Party-goers were treated to some fabulous entertainment by Jerami Youngblood and Shawnie Olson, Michael and Jessica Shallock, Matt Yaki and Jake Beaudoin, Crystal Wilhelmy and Pier One Radio Theatre. A big thank you also to KBBI, which loaned us their tents, and to all the helpers who raised those tents.

Janet Bowen, director, Homer Council on the Arts
