Homer police are puzzled by a surge of 21 unsolved burglaries that have occurred in the previous six weeks.

Fred Yenney and Alice Whitte remain locked in a tie for the contested Kachemak City Council seat. Each has 49 votes. City spokesperson Bev Munro says the final decision will be made by "flipping a coin, or drawing straws."
