Permitting fees waived

Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Mike Navarre has waived permitting fees for residents with flood-damaged properties as they prepare to reconstruct, refurbish and rebuild those damaged areas. This waiver is available to all residents with damaged property and is not related to the state's individual assistance program.

Permits are still required through the Donald R. Gilman River Center and are available online at www.kenairivercenter.org/Permits/Permits.html.

The fee waiver is effective until Nov. 27. Residents are encouraged to apply soon. River Center staff is available to answer questions at (907) 714-2460l.

Residents who believe their property assessed values could be reduced due to damages may file a claim for reduced assessment and abatement of taxes. The form is available online at www2.borough.kenai.ak.us/Assssingdept/Forms/DISASTER.PDF. Claims must be submitted within 60 days after the damage occurred.
