Homer High holds meeting on Thursday

Homer High School holds a parent meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Mariner Theatre to share information regarding recent off-campus incidents and the response from school administration, law enforcement and counselors.

"We'll allow people to share if they have suggestions and ideas for how to work through this in the community," said Homer High School principal Dr. Allan Gee.

Last month, 14 Homer High School student athletes were suspended from activities for violating the Alaska Student Athletic Association proximity rule for being at an East End Road teen party with alcohol. Alaska State Troopers received a report of harm of a child from the Office of Children's Services relating to that party and are investigating. No charges have yet been filed and troopers have not released any more information about the investigation.

Sgt. Jeremy Stone, head of the Anchor Point Alaska State Trooper Post, will be at the meeting as will Gee and school counselors.

In addition, South Peninsula Haven House will lead a discussion titled "Voices Over Violence: A dialogue for youth on creating a safer tomorrow" at 5:45 p.m. Monday in Room 201 at the Kachemak Bay Campus.
