This year's winners are:

* Most improved: Alice's Champagne Palace on Pioneer Avenue, Tiny and Lisa Nolan, managers;
* Most creative, unique or unusual: Armageddon Caf, 397 East Pioneer Avenue, Jana Steiner, manager.
The winners will receive plaques at an upcoming chamber luncheon, date and time to be announced.
Voter registration deadline nears
Sunday is the deadline to register or update existing voter registration for the upcoming Nov. 4 general election. Voter registration is available at any Division of Elections regional office, municipal clerk's office, the Division of Motor Vehicles, village council offices and at many libraries. Registration applications also are available at the division's Web site, www.elections.alaska.gov.
Festival focuses on Alaskan-made
The Make It Alaskan Festival Annual Wholesale Buyer Preview will be Friday, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. Make it Alaskan Inc. is dedicated to promoting the purchase and utilization of Alaskan-made products. The preview allows business and gift shop buyers the opportunity to meet hundreds of vendors and identify new products and business relationships. The event requires pre-registration and approval. Central peninsula sports facility holds fund-raiser
The Central Peninsula Sports Facility committee, comprised of about 50 sports enthusiasts, school directors, finance people and interested sports volunteers, invites the public to an informational fund-raiser at The Crossing Restaurant in Soldotna from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 8. The event includes a no-host bar, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and information on the proposed sports facility for the peninsula.
