Homer Alaska - Letters -

Story last updated at 8:12 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2008

In defense of Homer's mayor

I'd like to respond to Katie Kennedy's snide letter to the editor about Jim Hornaday. You live in Ninilchik. So why are you bothering us with your snippy comments about a well-respected member of our community. Jim has been around Homer for a lot of years. I met him through Little League. He was a judge then. But it didn't stop him from being a Little League president. In fact, Jim helped start Little League here in Homer. Not that you care. There's a lot more to Jim than a political affiliation.

A lot of us are glad he withdrew his resignation. And I don't even live in city limits. I can't even vote for him.

But it really irks me that someone who doesn't even know anything about him has the audacity to make stupid assumptions about him. A lot of us support Sarah Palin. So what? Do we all have some ulterior motive? I couldn't care less what your political choice is, though I can guess. I just hope you don't get in the habit of criticizing members of our community without knowing more about them first.
