Pratt Museum

New winter hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Mondays

Artists and businesses are invited to donate to the 2012 Ritz Art & Adventure Auction. The deadline for artist and business donations is 5 p.m. Sept. 28. This years fundraiser theme is Ritz at the Winter Palace and will be Nov. 3 at Wasabis. Donated artwork that will be auctioned at the Ritz will be exhibited in the Special Exhibits Gallery Oct. 5-28. A closing reception for Merged Lifestyles of Kachemak Bay is Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the Special Exhibits Gallery. Join Halibut Cove artist Marian Beck and Pratt staff, volunteers and board for a closing reception to celebrate her beautiful exhibit about life on the bay. This reception kicks off the final weekend of Marians exhibition, which will close Sept. 30.

Museum Day Live! is Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. In celebration of Smithsonians Museum Day Live! Pratt Museum offers free admission this day. As a participating venue, Pratt Museum will emulate the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institutions Washington, D.C.-based facilities, encouraging learning and the spread of knowledge nationwide. Museum Day Live! fulfills Smithsonian Medias mission to make cultural education accessible to everyone. Stop by and enjoy the Pratts award winning exhibits, free of charge.

The Ritz art preview exhibit opening reception is Oct. 5, 5-7 p.m. in the Special Exhibits Gallery. This exhibit will be on display in the Pratts Special Exhibits Gallery through Oct. 30 and will give visitors the opportunity to preview the art that will be auctioned at the annual Ritz fundraiser event. The museum presents Facing the Elements, an outdoor exhibit in its final week. This event closes on Monday.
