Farmers' market a success
In light of the great success of this year's Homer Farmers' Markets, I would like to express my gratitude to all of the people who helped to make this event a reality.

The Lawer family graciously allowed us free use of their beautifully located property, making the market a viable and safe place to buy fresh Homer produce. Our vendors braved the elements, outdoing each other continually with their fabulous agricultural and artistic talents.

Every week we were entertained by musicians such as Michael and Jessica Shallock, the Jug Band, Andy Baker, and DJ Jazzy Dan. Children's activities were provided by Jan Lyndes and Jen and Paul Castellani.

Volunteers staffed our information booth, helping with the day to day running of the market. Captain's Coffee provided coffee every Saturday this summer, without which we would have been much colder and more sleepy.

With our final market of the season on Sept. 21, I hope all of our consumers will realize what a great effort it was for a new organization to pull off such a grand vision. Thank you all.
