Voting important
Last year at this time, I wrote encouraging voters to endorse Mike Yourkowski's bid for re-election. I haven't wavered in my support for voter turnout or Mike since then.

In the wake of last year's tragedy, I have seen an unprecedented groundswell of patriotism. Our freedom and our responsibility to protect it are now in the forefront of everyone's mind. I hope this commitment will follow through down to our grass-roots level, when voters go to the polls in next month's election.

Whether you agree or disagree with the leadership decisions in our city, the ultimate way of voicing your opinion is through the election process. Then you can hold your candidate accountable, because you helped them achieve their election goals.

In addition to urging everyone to vote, I also urge you to support Mike Yourkowski's re-election bid. Mike is unique in that he clearly understands the relationship between protecting our environment and the positive impact that has on sound economic development.

I have worked with Mike on the Kachemak Heritage Land Trust board for the past several years. He has spearheaded the Town Square Project supported sound planning and zoning issues, the Fish and Wildlife Visitor Center, the new dock, the college expansion and the chamber of commerce efforts on economic development.

He's balanced, committed and smart. And he'll do a great job. See you in the voting booth.
