10 years ago in the Homer News
High winds cause widespread power outages to around 250 homes in Homer, Halibut Cove and Anchor Point. Winds gusted up to 50 mph at the airport, but anecdotal evidence reported even higher wind speeds. After the Sept. 7 sinking of the fishing vessel Interceptor, questions arise regarding a delay between the time the boat first radioed the Coast Guard cutter Roanoke Island at 8:45 a.m. and the time the vessel was reported in trouble to Coast Guard Command at 11:45 a.m.
