Anchor Point Senior Center revs up for holiday bazaar

I think the weather man has taken the last couple of weeks off and is now playing his recording from his prior airing. We seem to keep getting the same weather over and over. I have been chanting one of those oldies but goodies. It sounds a little something like this; "Rain, rain go away, come again some other day." I even tried replacing the word year with day, but it hasn't helped one little bit.

Have a great weekend and be safe.

Attention, homeschoolers

There is interest in forming a group for getting together for sports. Once formed, the group may gather at a local gym for sporting activities for exercise and fun. Homeschoolers are especially targeted, but all children will be welcome. For more information or to sign up, call Melissa Martin at 235-7842.

Anchor Point Senior Center

The center invites all veterans to a half-price dinner tonight. The dinner will be pork tenderloin and all the fixings. The salad bar opens at 5:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Dinner for veterans will be one-half price in recognition of POW/MIA Recognition Day.

Bingo is a great night of fun. The public is invited to come and play at 7 p.m. every Friday.

The center's community breakfast will be from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 21. This also is the day of the drawing for the beautiful Alaska gold nugget watch valued at $4,000.Tickets for this raffle are $5 each or three for $10. There still is plenty of time to purchase tickets. You need not be present to win.

The center's annual holiday bazaar will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 1. Space will be available for $20; tables are available for rent for $15. Those interested in participating in the bazaar are asked to call the center at 235-7786. This is a first-come, first-served event and reservations for space are already being taken. Last year there were more than 40 booths and the event was a huge success. So, mark your calendars.
