State chamber's annual conference starts Sept. 19




The Alaska State Chamber of Commerce will host its 52nd annual Conference and Business Trade Show, "Champions For Alaska's Future," Sept. 19-21 at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.

The conference agenda features three keynote speakers; Margie Brown, president/CEO of CIRI; Chris Rivera, president, Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association; and Jon Snare, senior vice president, Wells Fargo Bank. Additionally, there will be nine panels covering issues facing business in Alaska.

The topics include tourism, broadband, oil tax, gas, resource development, government role in business, workers compensation reform, "Champions For Alaska's Future" with Native corporation leadership, and a video teleconference with Sens. Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski, and Congressman Don Young.

An awards ceremony honoring Alaskan of the Year, Business of the Year and Local Chamber of Commerce of the Year will take place during an awards gala the evening of Sept. 20. Announcement of this year's awards recipients will take place immediately following the conference.
