Volunteers help chamber
The staff and members of the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center would like to thank their 19 summer volunteers for their invaluable assistance while welcoming the visitors to our community.

This season saw our numbers increase over last summer by 12 percent, with over 8,700 people served at the center -- in just three months. The Visitor Center was open nearly 1,000 hours this summer, and more than 600 of those hours had volunteer coverage. Each year we see groups being drawn to Homer for the various activities and services we have to offer. Without the help of our volunteers it would be very difficult to meet, greet, answer questions or maintain the expanded hours of operation.

Although the list of volunteers is too numerous to name here, many of you know some of these individuals, and I encourage you to say "thanks" for their great service to the community. We are very fortunate in Homer to have such a great selection of people with their high standard of excellence and commitment to seeing our community grow and prosper.

Thanks again, volunteers. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.

Derotha Ferraro, executive director, Homer Chamber of Commerce
