Support the Lions' raffle

With just a couple of days left before the Kachemak Bay Lions Club's fifth annual fundraising raffle, there are still unsold tickets. Each year, 399 tickets are sold at $100 each in order to raise money for programs aimed at preventing blindness. Every 25th ticket drawn wins a prize worth at least $100. The last ticket drawn wins the Harley.

The club will give away the 2011 Harley Davidson Fat Bob at a drawing held Saturday at AJ's Oldtown Steakhouse & Tavern, formerly Duggan's, located just across the street from the Driftwood Inn in old town.

You still can purchase raffle tickets at Scruggs Automotive, Homer Insurance Center and First National Bank Alaska. You also can find Lions members selling tickets at Spenard Builders Supply and Redden Marine.

The Lions Club depends on the annual fundraiser to help raise money it then gives out over the course of a year for eye exams and glasses for the needy, many youth sports programs, the Thanksgiving basket program, the Long Term Care Center Christmas drive and many other important programs.

Please come out and support the Lions at AJ's on Saturday, for lots of fun, good food, drinks, and music by the Headwater Band. It's going to be a blast and there's no tellin', maybe you will take home a 2011 Harley Davidson Fat Bob.

We'll see you in Old Town,

Adrienne Sweeney
